Jacob Rivera

ABOUT

Jacob Rivera is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Sociology at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). His research focuses on how social inequality affects the lived experiences of middle-class Puerto Ricans. Drawing on qualitative methods, his dissertation research examines how race, class, and neighborhood social dynamics shape daily life in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

His research interest is broadly centered around neighborhood inequalities, particularly how contemporary forms of racism disadvantage racial minorities. As a Ph.D. candidate at CWRU, he works as a senior research assistant at the National Initiative on Mixed-Income Communities at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at CWRU.
