About
Casey Schroeder (PhD 2015, Case Western Reserve University) is a lecturer in the Department of Sociology.
Dr. Schroeder believes that sociology is an essential part of college education. It guides students to consider perspectives other than their own as well as factors influencing such differences. Sociology is crucial for students to develop a more inclusive and respectful view of society. Dr. Schroeder loves encouraging students to consider new ways of seeing the world, to use their sociological imaginations by considering the structural aspects of everyones’ lives, particularly those they see as somehow different from themselves. Dr. Schroeder strives for students to understand that everything that is part of our social world is a social construct and can (and should) be deconstructed. Dr. Casey Schroeder received her doctorate in sociology from Case Western Reserve University in 2015. Before joining the sociology department as a lecturer, Dr. Schroeder worked in medical education and simulation at CWRU School of Medicine.
