Boaz Kahana, Professor Eva Kahana’s husband and soul mate for 58 years and a colleague, collaborator, mentor and valued friend to generations of CWRU Sociology faculty, students, staff and alumnae, passed away on November 6 at age 86. Boaz was Professor of Psychology at Cleveland State University, where he remained vigorously engaged in teaching and conducting research until his retirement this past year. He was also Co-director, along with Eva, of the Elderly Care Research Center. Boaz offered all those he met a unique combination of generosity of spirit, humor and intellectual stimulation. He will be deeply and widely missed. The Department of Sociology is exploring ways to commemorate Boaz’s legacy. On this, more information will be forthcoming. Gifts can also be made to Friendship Circle of Cleveland.
