Lacey Caporale, recent graduate of the Department of Sociology, published an op-ed entitled ““Fancy-ass Restaurants” to “What about us?”: Gentrification in Cleveland’s Detroit Shoreway Neighborhood” in which she discusses the repercussions of gentrification in the Detroit Shoreway, including the ostracism of working-class residents, imbalance of resources, and public safety disparities.
